The Lelo Energies Youth Talent & Volunteer Program offers structured, skills-focused opportunities for young people to work alongside our teams, support priority initiatives, and develop into future hires.

Namibia’s energy sector is scaling fast. To meet local content, in-country value, and workforce requirements, the country needs a predictable pipeline of prepared young professionals. The Lelo Energies Youth Talent & Volunteer Program is our mechanism for identifying, developing, and testing that talent early.

The program offers project-based, time-bound roles where young people support concrete activities in events, outreach, research, and basic project delivery. In return, they receive exposure to the industry, targeted skills development, and access to our network and partners.

Objectives

  • Build a pipeline of youth who understand the energy sector and can contribute from day one.

  • Support national local content and in‑country value objectives through structured early-career exposure.

  • Reduce hiring risk by observing performance in real work settings before recruitment.

  • Extend the reach and quality of Lelo’s programs and partner initiatives using trained youth teams.

Who We Target

  1. Age: 18–30 (exceptional 16–17-year-olds considered for basic roles).

  2. Location: Namibia-wide, with initial focus on Windhoek and Walvis Bay, then additional hubs.

  3. Profile: Students, TVET trainees, recent graduates, and early-career professionals interested in energy, engineering, project management, community engagement, or data

What Participants Gain

  • Structured work experience on real projects.

  • Basic sector literacy: how the energy value chain works, what roles exist, and where they could fit.

  • Core skills: communication, teamwork, planning, reporting.

  • Performance-based references and recommendations.

  • For higher levels, small stipends and targeted development budgets.

  • Priority visibility for internships and entry-level roles with Lelo and partners.

What Partners Gain

  • A pre-screened pool of youth who have already demonstrated reliability and baseline skills.

  • A channel to support local content and youth employment goals with measurable outputs.

  • An opportunity to test potential hires through short-term, structured assignments.

“Our first real experience in energy isn’t waiting for a job posting. It starts when you take on real work, build real skills, and earn real credibility.”
